The ARK

A regenerative village in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.

Santa Teresa, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

Founded 2021

About

The ARK is a prototype for the future of human settlement: a village where people, nature and enterprise form one regenerative living system, five minutes from the beach on the Nicoya Peninsula.

Founded in 2021 on overgrazed cattle pasture, the land has grown from 15 to more than 400 plant species. A permaculture farm and food forest feed the community. Only 87 residential lots of at least 5,000 m² were planned, so more land stays wild, and no more than 100 families will ever live here. The family who stewarded the land since 1966 receives 25% of all proceeds from The ARK's businesses.

Life in the village: regenerative organic farm and farm shop; Arkadia, a curiosity-led learning centre for children; The ARK House, coworking in the jungle with Starlink; spa deck with saunas and cold plunge over a natural swimming pond; padel and pickleball, movement classes, concerts and farm-to-table dinners.

Ways to join: guest stays and events, ARK memberships, fractional ownership from US$24.9k, and titled lots from US$374k. Every path includes community membership and profit-sharing rights.
